It’s that time of the year where some of us prepare to cram an entire semester’s worth of syllabus into a week. Well, you’re not the only one; university is tough to get through. Fear not, here’s a list of things you can do to relax a little.
1. Take a walk
I know the last thing you wanna do is exercise but, even a walk to the toilet could help clear your head. It’s also good for your body to switch positions once in a while.
2. Get a snack
Here are some healthy and cheap snacks: baby carrots, peanuts, dried fruits, yogurt, etc.
3. Play with animals
If you’re studying in Monash, look out for the Monash Cat and give her some love. Or if you’re at home, give some time to your pet, this will benefit the both of you!
Water!! Remember to stay hydrated, it can help you stay awake and of course, not get dehydrated.
5. Do nothing
Sometimes you just need a break, so maybe stare at a wall or sit and think about life (which can be a little dangerous so be careful!)
But wait, here is a list of things NOT to do so you don’t start to procrastinate.
1. Check social media
I don’t know about you, but once I start scrolling through Instagram, it’s gonna take a while before I get back to studying.
We all know 10 minute power naps rarely work. So don’t take a nap unless you really have to.
3. Excessive caffeine intake
Your favourite caffeinated drink may help you pull all-nighters but, once the effects wear off, you’ll be even sleepier than before. So be sure to take it in moderate amounts.
At the end of the day, we all have different ways of studying and taking breaks. But one thing’s for sure: all of this grinding will be worth it! So hang on tight, it will be over soon and we can all look forward to the break before the next semester starts. Good luck!
