2019 is going to be a good year for cinema-goers. With a whole plethora of movies coming up this year, it can be tough to decide which one to watch. Unless you can afford to go for all of them, here are 5 movies you have to watch in 2019!

1. Shazam!

IMDb

Sounds weird, right? How can a catch-phrase be the name of a superhero? Watch Billy Batson, the young DC superhero who becomes a powerful being at just the sound of the name, Shazam! He turns into Zachary Levi (the ever-so charming Chuck and the likeable Flynn Rider from Tangled) and becomes a superhuman. Don’t be mistaken, Billy is still a 14-year-old kid stuck in an adult’s body, so watch him figure out his powers for the first time on screen this April.

2. Avengers: Endgame

IMDb

You know you’re going to watch it. It’s the epic conclusion to Avengers: Infinity War. A year ago, we saw the Avengers come together to take on Thanos, who destroyed half of all life across the universe and is arguably the most interesting villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Loki from The Avengers back in 2012. The Avengers come together again, possibly for the last time to save the universe once and for all. Immerse yourself in the epic finale in cinemas this April.

3. John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

IMDb

The thrilling conclusion to the action-packed trilogy of John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves, a retired assassin who is quite literally running away from his past life. The neo-noir visual style and gritty action sequences makes John Wick one of the most fun and violet adventures to come in the last 5 years. Join John Wick in his escape from New York City in cinemas this May.

4. The Lion King

IMDb

I know what you’re thinking. Didn’t this release back in 1994? Yes and no. This is a CGI remake that’s coming out this year. Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Olilver, Beyoncé and James Earl Jones, along with other actors are going to voice characters in the remake of the classic film about family, friendship, power and betrayal. The fact that James Earl Jones is playing Mufasa again is reason enough to go and experience a roller coaster of emotions. Experience the emotions in cinemas this July.

5. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

IMDb

Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt? Yes, you read that correctly. The two actors will be acting in Quentin Tarantino’s 9th film this year about a television actor and his stunt double making their way through Hollywood in the late 60’s, with multiple story lines playing out in Hollywood’s golden age. Given the impact Quentin’s films have had over the past 25 years, this film will be a huge one, given the cast’s and director’s reputation. Multiple story lines? Sounds like another Pulp Fiction to me, and I like it. Catch the black comedy crime film in cinemas this July.

So there you have it folks, the 5 must-see movies of 2019. Of course there are plenty more that are coming out that aren’t listed here, but these picks will get you started and will definitely satisfy your cinema-going experience.
